Paola Navone rug collection for Kasthall

Italian designer Paola Navone has created a collection of hand tufted and woven wool rugs for the Swedish rug company Kasthall. Out of the five designs I particularly love the three that use this deep navy/indigo blue that has become her signature color, a color which works so well with the current indigo trend we have been seeing. Their irregular design is reminiscent of indigo tie-dyed Japanese or African fabrics lending them the feeling that each one is unique.

Dye Dye looks like a wrinkled cloth dipped in color, then opened and dried, resulting in a decoration made by thick spots that have been enlarged out of scale

Fold imitates the regular lines obtained from  folding and opening  piece of paper over and over.

Crinkle looks like a twisted cloth that has been dip dyed before being opened and let to dry. The effect are soft and irregular stripes.

I’d love to see them used in a rather modern context either simply with indigo, white and grey, or with a touch of bright orange to liven up the color scheme. Which one is your favorite?

  • I’m loving all these blues. I was never into blue at all until I had my son four years ago. Go figure. I like the indigo blues that are out right now too.ReplyCancel
