A private matter to attend took me to Berlin at the beginning of the week. I stayed in our old neighborhood close to Gendarmenmarkt and Check Point Charlie. I hadn’t really scheduled anything as I didn’t know if I would have any time left. I did end up, though, having a couple of hours and used them to run some errands like buying tons of Christmas cookies and a few German children’s books for Christmas. On my way I passed by Marsano which is one of the best flower shops in Berlin (they supply flowers for the Hotel de Rome and the Ritz Carlton among others). When we lived around the corner I loved to browse through their flower shop because back then they already sold next to the flowers a large selection of vases and containers as well a many small vintage decorative pieces. I was always surprised that the prices were kept very reasonable. Well since then they have opened a space dedicated to vintage items, furniture and accessories next door to the flower shop
They have an eclectic mix of items ranging from mid-century to Biedermeier that are also available to rent for photo shoots. I actually walked in to get this pair of golden vintage lamps priced each at 42 EUR (talk about a bargain) but they wouldn’t ship internationally so I had to let them there. Such a pity. If you are in Berlin go snap them before they are gone.
Marsano also organizes on a regular basis flower themed workshops. It’s a great gift idea for Christmas if you live close to Berlin or want an excuse to spend some time there. Have a lovely day!
