I recently stumbled upon this add for Schumacher’s new fabric collaboration with designer Lulu deKwiatkowski. I am usually not a big fan of children’s fabrics because I simply think that you can very well use normal grown-ups fabrics to decorate children’s rooms, but I have to say that I totally fell for those elephants. Aren’t they absolutely adorable? Nothing for my boy but still adorable.
I took a closer look at the entire collection on Schumacher’s website, and have to say that my overall reaction was just “Oh yes!”. The collection features eight prints and six embroideries on cotton grounds. It showcases different animals, what I call circus themed patterns, or sailing boats to name a few. I love the five abstract small scale prints that complement so well the figurative ones. To be quite honest those are great even for grown-ups areas.
Each print comes in two to four colorways, perfect for creating color schemes for boys, girls, or siblings sharing a same room. The colors are fun and joyful but remain elegant and understated.
I love the elephants “Parade” in coral and yellow, and am also very much fond of “Ode to Matisse” the one on the bottom right side corner, which takes inspiration in Matisse’s late work with colored paper. Are you working on any children’s rooms projects lately? Are you feeling inspired by those?
Have a wonderful day, dear readers.
